The main event. Runs Thursdays 3pm to 7pm mid-May through late September at Shipyards Park on 2nd Ave. Around 45 vendors: bison sausages from Aurora Mountain Farm, cold-pressed hemp oil, sourdough from Alpine Bakery, birch syrup, and elk jerky. Prepared food ranges from wood-fired pizza ($16) to caribou tacos from a rotating truck ($14). Free live music and canoe demos on the river. Skip the crafts stalls unless you specifically want mid-priced silver jewellery — head straight for the food half.

Whitehorse indoor markets

Fireweed also runs a small Sunday indoor market November through April at Alaska Highway near 2nd Ave, 11am to 2pm. Smaller — maybe 15 vendors — but the only winter option for direct-from-farm eggs, root vegetables, and preserves. Riverside Grocery on Front St is not a farmers market but stocks local products year-round including Klondike Kettle Corn ($8), Yukon Brewing beers, and Uncle Berwyn's Yukon Birch Syrup. Good one-stop for edible souvenirs.

Dawson City Farmers Market

Saturdays 10am to 1pm at Minto Park on 3rd Ave, mid-June through early September. About 20 vendors: garden produce grown in Klondike valley greenhouses, wild-harvested morels and chanterelles in season, artisanal soap, and preserves. Klondike Coffee Roasters usually has a table with fresh beans ($22 per bag). Come early — the popular vendors sell out by 11:30am. On non-market days, the Dawson General Store on Front St is your only real grocery.

Atlin Fireweed Market

Small (10 vendors) but atmospheric. Fridays 3pm to 7pm July and August at Atlin Recreation Centre on 3rd St. Focus is preserves, wild berry jam, salmon jerky from Taku River, and local honey. Combine with an Atlin day trip and you can pick up smoked-fish sandwich lunches for $14. Half the vendors accept cash only. The market doubles as a social event for the 400-person community — expect long chats and no-rush pace.
